8 protection tips for your psychic child.

Growing up as an intuitive child who could hear, see, and feel things that others couldn’t, I can attest that it’s quite challenging.

Just because psychic children are intuitive doesn’t mean they know how to automatically protect themselves or set boundaries. You may think they are being quirky, but remember, this is how they perceive reality.

Every now and then, a parent of an intuitive child will ask me how they can help their child manage their abilities. Like any natural talent, this ability is developed over time. But teaching self-protection and setting boundaries are essential starting points.

1)    Listen and validate.

Observing behavior is one thing; asking the right questions and validating how they feel is another. Saying “It’s your imagination” or making a joke out of it will shut them down, and they won’t share things with you again.

Create a safe space. Show interest in their perception of things. Ask how a place, person, or thing makes them feel. Let your child know that anything they tell you stays between you both.

2)   Explain energy to them.

Everything is energy. A child must understand what they are sensing. Regardless of the form, it is energy.

Let your child know that they have a gift to see, feel, and/or hear things that others may not. Explain that these feelings are not always theirs, but those of other people, places, or things. To differentiate their feelings from someone else’s, teach them to pay attention to how they felt before and after contact.

3)   Train them to quiet the mind.

Probably one of the most difficult, yet powerful, things you can do is teach your child meditation. Learning to quiet and declutter the mind by focusing on their breath will help them control their abilities.

4)   Call their archangels & Spirit guides.

Remind them that they were born with special Spirit guides and guardian angels. They can say a prayer or call Archangel Michael, Archangel Gabriel, and their Spirit guides anytime.

5)    Coach them to be Violet!

Violet, from Pixar’s The Incredibles, has an ability to create a protective shield around herself and those she loves. This is one of the best and most actionable teaching tools for children!

Tell your child to create a positive energy shield that blocks negativity from entering their aura (aka, force field). If they are very little, you can do it for them!

• Take a deep breath (in through the nose and the belly must expand).

• Fill the body with a Divine white light (or their favorite color!).

• With every exhale, teach them to visualize a light around them growing into a big dome around their body. Remind them that only goodness can enter this shield.

6)   Use protection spray & precious crystals.

To boost positivity, your child can use a high-quality smokeless smudge spray and wear or carry precious crystals and stones to repel negativity. Black tourmaline, selenite, hematite, rose quartz, jet, and fluorite are powerful. Essential oils and an empath survival book are great tools as well.

7)   Tell them to say “No” to Spirit.

Intuitive children have auras that shine like a lighthouse. Not only are they empathetic to living people, but those in Spirit. If your child sees Spirits, let them know that they have the right to say no to anyone trying to enter their space, and they can command them to leave anytime. This is one of the most difficult abilities for psychic mediums to develop.

8)   Get them a journal and crayons.

If your child is old enough, a journal is a positive reinforcement tool. Let their intuition choose a beautiful journal. Your child can write or draw what they see, how they feel, and how they overcame a situation. Best of all, they can see their positive progress.

It’s not a curse, but a gift!

The more you maintain an open dialogue and support your child, the above approaches will turn into habits. As they grow older, they will continue to learn new ways to handle different situations and find support.

Most importantly, remind them how much you love them. Once they learn to develop their abilities, they can use these gifts to help themselves and other people.
